If you’ve heard of social VR apps like VRChat, Neos, or the late AltSpaceVR, then you might’ve heard about the VR Party scene, and more specifically, the VR Rave Scene. The raves are an amazing and immersive experience that brings people from around the world to party, dance, and enjoy the EDM vibes curated by DJ’s from around the world. But for those of us who live and breathe hip-hop, it’s been pretty slim pickings.
But in mid-2022, I caught word of a new event series that was organized by both American and Japanese DJs called Hip-Hop Day at Magenta. And when I went, yo I was sold. THIS was the one I was looking for, I finally found my virtual tribe. So I am excited to share with yall the story of the organizers Sera Akai, Walleee and Paul Manton, and how Hip Hop Day came to be.
