About Me

Kuya Quatro

aka David Lazaro

What’s good?! I’m Kuya Quatro, an art director in the entertainment ad world based in L.A.. And YO. I’m gassed on everything VR/XR. Back in 2017, after watching ‘Dear Angelica’ on the OG Vive, my mind was blown to bits and I became a true believer in XR ever since. That’s when I knew: storytelling’s future is immersive. It’s virtual. It’s a blend of all realities.

Using what I’ve learned professionally, I jumped into the VR180 video world; blended my design & editing skills with VR’s immense potential. Why? Cause immersive video can be a game-changer. Its passive-yet-immersive experience can bridge the VR-casuals and the hardcore XR heads. And with the youngs™ getting nice with photo & video editing, a wave of affordable VR cameras could launch a revolution in content creation. If you’ve seen a dope immersive video, then you already know what’s good! Follow me on this journey, and let’s define the future of storytelling, one immersive tale at a time.

My VR Journey

1996: The Virtual Boy

Yung David hustled a Virtual Boy for X-mas, and despite its quirks and only 3 games, I felt its magic! All before it blew up from plugging into a 220V outlet.

Launched a poetry podcast with my poetry brother Daniel Hees, blending video, design, and fresh visuals. Pen Clique schooled me in becoming a Creative Director and content creation, shaping my later VR ventures.

2017: Dear Angelica

My first current-gen experience of VR. For such a simple experience, my mind was blown. I saw the light of immersive story telling and became a believer. My virtual baptism.

2018: PSVR1

Going further down the rabbit hole; while PSVR was glitchy, it was a big step up from phone-in-box VR. Also picked up a Google Daydream. The PSVR was but an appetizer, leaving me wanting for "the real thing."

Inspired by the iconic YouTube channel, Disrupt, and its VR-centric video essays, I hopped into VRChat as a lowly deskie, bookmarking all the worlds I wanted to revisit once I get a proper headset.

2020: Full Dive

Enter the Matrix. HP Reverb G2. My precious. Finally was able to visit all the VRChat worlds I had bookmarked, link up with virtual homies, and discover the wonderful realities of immersive games and experiences.

2021: Vuze from the six

After a year in VR, I was hyped to create some kinda VR content. I couldn't 3D-model or game dev, but I had over a decade of art direction, design, and video editing skills in the bag. So, I slid into VR180 video as my artform of choice.

For 4 months, I XP grinded with the Vuze XR camera and, after numerous VR vlogs, I learned enough tricks and techniques to get it poppin. I teamed up with the homie Seth Garnes to create "Rideshare", marking VR180 as my chosen art medium.

After months of on-and-off attending VRChat raves, I tried to find a hip-hop event so I could return to my "home-genre." Thanks to the homie Joker, I had found the Hip-Hop Day @ Magenta crew and claimed my VRC tribe.

2023 - Onward

I'm excited to dive even deeper into VR/XR videography, believing there are untapped stories waiting to be unleashed in this fresh medium. I'm set on crafting something as iconic as "Dear Angelica" to inspire the next wave of XR creators.

Current Works

When I’m not deep into my day job, I’m crafting VR180 videos that push the boundaries of immersion. Dive into my catalog and check out my latest experiments, narratives, and visual journeys.
